Ever a professional, the dandy-dressed Stephen Henley joins the BeatiDudes, Paul Kolker, Nick Bezner, and Jeff Schiefelbein, to talk about the journey of his life on the way to becoming the president of Legatus. Stephen spent two and a half years discerning the priesthood with the Legionaries of Christ, where he wrote his vocation story – aptly titled, God’s Marine. After discerning out of the seminar, the military theme continued, and Stephen joined the Marine Corps. During his time in the reserves, Stephen ended up in Florida, which proved to be an essential stop in his journey. Not only did he meet his wife during his time in the Sunshine State, but he also started his professional career by working at Ave Maria University. Like Legatus, Ave Maria was also started by Catholic business hero Tom Monaghan. Tom Monaghan founded Domino’s Pizza after being raised in orphanages and accidentally joining the Marine Corps. With much business and professional success, Tom searched for a place for executives to gather for Christ. After an impactful encounter with Saint Pope John Paul II, Tom was inspired to launch Legatus. In Latin, Legatus means ambassador, and that is exactly what Tom was promoting for Presidents, CEOs, and their spouses to become - Ambassadors for God. Stephen’s working relationship with Tom stemmed from a period when Tom required a driver while recovering from wrist surgery. Twenty years later, Stephen is now the President of Legatus. Legatus has 90 chapters across North America and is continuing to expand with new, more domestic and international chapters on the horizon. The purpose of Legatus is to study, live, and spread the Catholic faith in the personal, business, and professional lives of executives and their spouses. He is the Assistant Head Coach of the football team at Detroit Catholic Central High School, where he has been on the staff since 2008. Along the way he coached in two State Championship games and, prior to his promotion this year to his current role, had been promoted to Defensive Coordinator in 2018. He was an Undergraduate Assistant Coach at The University of Michigan from 2003-2005, and as a student-athlete playing for Detroit Catholic Central, he was a member of back-to-back state championship teams. He holds a B.S. in Physical Education from The University of Michigan and his father is in multiple Halls of Fame as a football coach.

My Father’s Death Taught Me to Lead | Jay Wonacott | Ep 17

She is a licensed clinical psychologist and licensed marriage and family therapist who has seemingly done it all, sports-wise. She currently participates in boxing, having played sports her entire life, including basketball, softball, running, and bodybuilding. Her athletic background also includes collegiate basketball, Division I offers, options to play internationally, and playing with a WNBA farm team. She has coached youth basketball as well as a senior women's Olympic basketball team and has a sports ministry currently that provides sports-oriented training and integrates faith, with an emphasis on cultivating virtues.

He is a College Scout with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a first round draft pick in the 1995 NFL Draft and went on to play nine years with Pittsburgh and then five years with the Houston Texans. In total he played in 188 regular season games and five in the playoffs. He also served on the NFL Players Association Executive Committee. Back in his days as a student-athlete he played college football for the Washington Huskies, earning All-American honors in 1993. Five years ago, he was enshrined in the Pacific Northwest Hall of Fame.

The Holy Innocents

He has been an NCAA women's basketball referee since 2004 and has been officiating since working intramural games in 1994 at the University of Scranton. Along the way he has officiated in a number of conferences and in 2018 worked his first national championship. He has also been a part of eight consecutive Final Fours. As a student-athlete he played basketball, and then in his 20s he ran three marathons.

The Athletic Director and basketball coach at Tampa Catholic High School, where he has been for over 30 years and was a 2015 inductee to their Hall of Fame. Back in HIS high school days he played four years of basketball and baseball, plus one year of football. A lifelong Catholic, he also had coaching stops in West Virginia as well as five years at another high school in the Tampa Bay area. He's also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
