Balancing Performance and Pressure... How to be peak in sports, business and life | Rachael Isaac

He has been involved in various sports-related capacities. Most recently is his foray into the sport of triathlon, which has seen him compete in over 20 long-course, Olympic, and Sprint triathlons, including reaching the podium six times in the past two seasons. On April 2nd he will compete in the Ironman Oceanside 70.3 in San Diego, and in preparation for that he will complete a training ride next week in which he will tackle the 10,068-foot, 35-mile climb to the summit of Maui's Haleakala Volcano dubbed as the "World's longest paved climb." He had been an All-Pac 10 and national champion rower in his 20s. As a competitive sailor, he was a member of the winning crew at the 1998 Swiftsure International Yacht Race. Plus, he has held administrative roles in sports with the Seattle Goodwill Games, the Washington State Olympic Committee, the Seattle Sports Commission, USA Canoe/Kayak, and even US Lacrosse, among many others.

Over the weekend, we watched God work in incredible ways as men opened up, shared their stories, and allowed Christ to step into those broken places. It was humbling and hopeful.

In this episode, Victor and I unpack some of the key takeaways from the conference and dive deep into the struggles many of us face but rarely talk about. We’ll cover why we feel like we need to hide our pain, how self-reliance is a trap, and most importantly, how God’s grace can reshape the broken parts of our lives.

Discovering True Friendship with Christ: Insights from John 15

Fr. Ken Geraci lived the life of the prodigal son for most of his young adult life. Raised in a nominally Catholic family, who only lived the externals of the faith, Fr. Ken left the Catholic Church for many years. During that time, he earned a business degree and worked as a business professional in Advanced R&amp;D and software testing.  During this journey, God presented him with challenges that forced him to question his personal beliefs and the question, “What is Truth?” Through a series of conversions, years of struggle, study, and questioning, Fr. Ken found his way from agnosticism to non-denominational Christianity, and ultimately back to the Catholic Church. Fr. Ken joined the Fathers of Mercy in 2006 and was ordained in 2012. Fr. Ken has a great understanding of the personal and societal pressures that individuals face and knows what it is like to “hate coming to church.” His mission talks are for people of all levels of faith, from those who are madly in love with Jesus to those who struggle with church and religion.In this episode, Fr. Joel Stepanek is the Chief Operating Officer for the National Eucharistic Congress and an avid fan of great music. After stumbling across the band Black-Eyed Peas in 2001, Joel created a website about the group and their upbeat, positive style of hip-hop music. His work was noticed early on by the band, and they soon reached out to Joel to offer him news, updates, and backstage passes for his fan site. As high school progressed, Joel stopped updating the site just a bit before the Black-Eyed Peas became a worldwide phenomenon.However, the lessons of Joel’s connection to the band did not end with the website. Instead, Joel realized that his love for music and its ability to transform the people who hear it paled in comparison to the similar impact that ministry could have on the world and that is why he dropped his other career pursuits to focus on the sharing the greatest thing of all, the Gospel. Joel is also an author with several books under his belt, covering many topics, including humility, authentic masculinity, and discernment. Season One Wrap Session with Christopher

From being originally christened into the occult as a baby to being fully baptized into the Catholic church as a child, Aaron Fowler shares the surprising journey of his life. Aaron is the Executive Director for Bloom Pregnancy Help Center, previously Birth Choice, in Dallas, Texas. Bloom actively promotes the culture of life and accompanies families as they seek to do the same. As he says, “I am just a dad and a farmer, running a pregnancy center.” Aaron’s pathway to nonprofit leadership was anything but typical. In high school, Aaron’s family moved to the country, where he learned to play guitar. When he returned to the city, he used those skills to play in a few bands in Dallas. Through his parents’ prayers and the conversion of his grandmother during her last year of life, Aaron was inspired to seek to understand his own faith. Aaron had an incredible moment when he picked up a theology manual from Ludwig Ott, and somehow everything clicked. Aaron then joined the Franciscans of the Immaculate in Italy during his discernment of the priesthood. During this time, he was also fighting through his initial contraction of Lime disease. His health conditions ultimately helped to complete his discernment as Aaron left religious life. Aaron and his wife have four boys and are pregnant with their 5th child. God’s Invitation to the Priesthood | Fr. Peter Pomposello| Episode #106

Anand Bheemarasetti is a modern missionary, business entrepreneur, media specialist, and community organizer who has dedicated himself to a life of service by following the inspiration of St. Mother Theresa of Calcutta. After outfitting the BeatiDudes with traditional Indian clothing, Anand shares his story of his roots and his transition to the United States. He had moved to Nebraska and was searching for a place to fit in. He was welcomed by a family who helped to set him on the right path. He was brought into various programs at his parish and started hanging out with seminarians, too. Then, he was introduced to FOCUS through a Bible study that blew his mind. These young people were sharing faith and praying together outside of church. He also attended the FOCUS conference later that year. While meeting with his spiritual director, it became clear that Anand’s vocation would not be priesthood. Instead, he set his sights on joining FOCUS as a missionary. His first year as a missionary was spent at Bradley University, followed by Illinois State University and the University of Colorado in Boulder, before he worked in marketing at the FOCUS headquarters. At the start of FOCUS, Anand knew about the one-year rule of no dating, so he started a friendship with the young lady who would eventually become his wife. Their courtship story is a great testament to building a strong foundation and playing the long game. Anand shares the inspiration that led to his current nonprofit. He had led mission trips to India and then started a media effort to bring Catholicism to YouTube through a series called Ask a Bishop. Then he decided to make a documentary in both Calcutta and Rome during the time of Mother Theresa’s canonization. Fr. Ken Geraci lived the life of the prodigal son for most of his young adult life. Raised in a nominally Catholic family, who only lived the externals of the faith, Fr. Ken left the Catholic Church for many years. During that time, he earned a business degree and worked as a business professional in Advanced R&amp;D and software testing. During this journey, God presented him with challenges that forced him to question his personal beliefs and the question, “What is Truth?” Through a series of conversions, years of struggle, study, and questioning, Fr. Ken found his way from agnosticism to non-denominational Christianity, and ultimately back to the Catholic Church. Fr. Ken joined the Fathers of Mercy in 2006 and was ordained in 2012. Fr. Chris is an industry resource serving as a consultant and advisor to a multitude of industry professionals, giving clarity in the areas of practice management, client care, and comprehensive financial planning.Chris is very involved in his community; he has served as the president of the Duquesne University Alumni Board, the president of St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church Parish Council, a board member of Oakland Catholic High School, a member of Mt Lebanon municipal Pension Board, and a board member of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Pittsburgh. Currently, Chris is a member of both the Duquesne University Board of Trustees and the Investment Committee. He is also a committee member of the Little Sisters of the Poor, a board member of Mary’s Place Pittsburgh, and a board member of Legatus International. Chris also remains active in youth sports in the Mount Lebanon area. Kyle Washut, president of Wyoming Catholic College, joins the bonus show to discuss the trials and triumphs of family life. He and his wife Erin are happily raising their six kids, ranging from high school to one year old. Kyle attributes all family triumphs to the work of our Lord and recognizes that we are not the responsible party for all the goodness that comes from our kids.He recounts the harrowing tale of their fifth baby, Macrina, and the scare that occurred when his wife went into labor at 19 weeks pregnant. Needing a higher order of medical care to stop the hemorrhaging, Erin and Kyle had to be transported to a major hospital in Denver by plane. When they left the kids behind, they feared that Erin might not survive, and they were told that the baby would certainly not make it. The doctors encouraged the couple to perform a “procedure,” which was a euphemism for an abortion. Kyle knew at this moment they were facing a medical community that was not on the same page as the family, and the couple would need to rearrange their entire lives to prevent the ongoing pressure to abort.Kyle couldn’t return to Wyoming Catholic College, where he was serving as a dean and a professor, while his wife and unborn baby needed him in Denver. As Erin remained pregnant for ten more weeks in the hospital, the entire college met and decided to reorganize the schedules and plans of EVERYONE—all staff, students, and faculty—to accommodate the family's needs in supporting this birth. My Wife Went into Labor at 19 Weeks | Kyle Washut | Episode #136

On Easter Sunday, 2011, Chris Faddis’ late wife Angela was admitted to the hospital after an emergency room visit revealed a large mass in her colon and multiple masses in her liver. The diagnosis was stage IV metastatic colon cancer, with no chance of a cure. Upon doctors informing the couple of the news, Angela’s words to Chris were, “Jesus still rose, so we will trust.” Her witness in death inspired Chris and his friend Dr. John Oertle to launch Solidarity HealthShare, a national not-for-profit ministry that provides an affordable and ethical alternative to fund healthcare costs while protecting and practicing Catholic beliefs. Chris shares the ups and downs of getting Solidarity off the ground and enjoys many laughs and some singalongs with the BeatiDudes throughout it all. Chris is married to Jennifer, and they have five beautiful children.
