THE WAY OF THE CROSS
Episode 3: Points of Light, The Fifth and Sixth Stations
In this third episode, Jon Leonetti breaks down the Fifth and Sixth Stations of the Cross. Jon encourages us to reflect on moments when strangers may have gone out of their way to us. As you watch this video reflect on the following questions.
Reflection Questions
1. Where do I see people who need a little help that I could give? Do I have burdens that I could share?
2. Jon highlighted that Simon of Cyrene is mentioned again later in scripture after Jesus is crucified and Veronica is not mentioned at all in scripture, yet both stories have been preserved in the Christian tradition. How do you engage these stories in your life and with others?
3. "Veronica" comes from the Latin word 'vera', meaning "truth", and Greek 'eikon', meaning "image" - though she was not mentioned specifically in the Bible, all Catholics who meditate on the Stations of the Cross are familiar with this little-known saint who made a big, bold effort to comfort our Lord! Have you ever wondered if this image still exists (it is - at the Vatican!)? Do relics like Veronica's veil or the Shroud of Turin help you in your faith?
