Fr. Joshua Whitfield currently serves as the Pastoral Administrator of St. Rita Catholic Community in Dallas. A former Episcopal priest trained for ministry in England, after his conversion to Catholicism, he was ordained a Catholic priest through the Pastoral Provision of Pope Saint John Paul II in 2012. He and his wife Alli live in Dallas with their five children: Maggie, Peter, Zoe-Catherine, and Bernadette and Felicity. Originally from Glen Rose, Texas—the son of a football coach—he’s an alumnus of Texas Tech University, the University of Leeds, and Duke University. He is the author of Pilgrim Holiness: Martyrdom as Descriptive Witness (Cascade, 2009) and The Crisis of Bad Preaching: Redeeming the Heart and Way of the Catholic Preacher (Ave Maria Press, 2019) and Eucharist, Bread of Life (Liturgical Press, 2021). While fasting is one of the great gifts of the Church that can help us to elicit change, it's never going to reach its potential unless it is yoked with a solid prayer life. They are two sides of the same coin. Whenever you see fasting in the scriptures, prayer is not far behind. One allows the other to bear lasting fruit.
The problem for so many of us, though, is that we don't have a meaningful prayer life. Sure, we go to church and we check the boxes, praying while at Mass or before meals, but so many of us just haven't made establishing and growing our prayer life a regular priority. It's just the truth. If we want to become the men that God calls us to be, then we have to build an intimate relationship with Christ through prayer. True Transformation: Growing in Your Prayer Life

Carson Weber, founder of On Fire Media, discovered a way to work for the Church without working for the Church. Through his team’s branding expertise and focus on helping mission-driven companies, Carson has answered the call to catechesis. After graduating from Texas A&amp;M University, Carson felt a calling in his heart. He wanted to spend more of his life studying and growing closer to Christ. This discernment led Carson to Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio, to work with Dr. Scott Hahn and earn his Master of Arts in Theology &amp; Christian Ministry with an emphasis in Catechetic Theology. While at Franciscan, Carson learned that “God loves you, and Barbara Morgan has a plan for your life.” Upon meeting Barbara, Carson realized he was called to a life of catechesis. He also met his wife while working with Barbara. Five kids later, the Weber family credits the Holy Spirit working through Barbara for many of the great things in their lives. Kevin Matthews shares a talk crafted (for the first time) for men. Men carry wounds, wounds we often ignore. Many of us assume these wounds don’t make us worthy. But Kevin hopes to give us a new story. A story where we, as sons of the Father, are broken, yes. Broken, but loved. And that makes every difference in the world. 

Members joined this event, and then headed into breakout rooms to chat with small clusters of men. During our ‘Return to the Father’ event, one attendee said ‘it was PURE FIRE’.

A certain darkness has once more descended upon the world. Two thousand years ago, the light of Christ came to abide in Nazareth. We must take a moment to carefully consider Nazareth. We must consider the life of St. Joseph at Nazareth.

The pathway to fulfilling the vision of the man were created to be is simple … it’s just not easy! Therefore, you need to travel the journey with other men. It has been amazing what TMIY men have accomplished together!

The Catholic church has always taught that work was genuinely a human activity.  Meaning that it was something that we did that made our lives better.  But with the increase of technology, social media, and the changing demographics of the work force, work itself seems to be a different kind of experience.  Nevertheless, the truth about work hasn’t changed.  And God’s vision for work laid out in the Bible remains the same.  This is a Christian advantage.  By letting the truth of our faith inform our leadership Christians protect and enhance the working environment for all involved.
