This is the Every Catholic Man Gospel Devotional, where a man can draw closer to Jesus Christ, learn the Catholic faith and grow in happiness by becoming a better Catholic Son and Catholic Father. Today we hear how Jesus, with Divine Wisdom and Courage, protect and defend a vulnerable adulterous woman from a murderous crowd and forgives her for her sins. We’ll reflect upon need for every Catholic man to build the Virtue of Magnanimity so he can imitate St. Joseph and protect vulnerable women. We’ll also consider the need for every Catholic man to seek the fruits of Chasity and Modesty so he can reject the deadly sin of lust and grow in purity.

Today we hear Jesus, full of Divine Knowledge and the Perfection of Fortitude, reveal He will be horribly murdered on a Cross and shocks the Apostles by revealing that they too must pick up their Cross and follow Him. We’ll reflect upon need for every Catholic man to grow in the Virtue of Magnanimity so he can commit to the greatness of sacrificing himself for God and others. We’ll also consider the importance of growing in the Virtue of Prayer so that a man can pick up his cross with zeal and joy.

Patti Defilippis is the director of all the Saint Luke Productions live dramas and the screenwriter for the feature film Thérèse. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater, she began her career at the Alley Theater in Houston, Texas. She then acted in the Fort Worth Shakespeare Festival, as well as various dinner theaters. Expanding to the West Coast, Patti performed with the Oregon Shakespearean Festival in Ashland, Oregon. There, she met her husband, Leonardo Defilippis. While in Ashland, she experienced a conversion to Catholicism, which changed the direction of her theatrical career. Since coming into the Church, Patti has enjoyed more than 45 years directing, writing and performing in the spiritual films and plays of Saint Luke Productions. Although she was trained as an actress, she finds the behind-the-scenes elements of theater and film more rewarding. She enjoys collaborating in, refining, and editing Leonardo’s broad and ambitious vision for a new Catholic presence in the media.

He began his racing career in 1996 and by 2001 was the American Speed Association Champion and Rookie of the Year. In 2009 he was NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Rookie of the Year. The problem for so many of us, though, is that we don't have a meaningful prayer life. Sure, we go to church and we check the boxes, praying while at Mass or before meals, but so many of us just haven't made establishing and growing our prayer life a regular priority. It's just the truth. If we want to become the men that God calls us to be, then we have to build an intimate relationship with Christ through prayer. Listen in this week as John shares about the importance of building a powerful life of prayer and the effect it can have on sustaining lasting change.

True Transformation: Growing in Your Prayer Life

Carson Weber, founder of On Fire Media, discovered a way to work for the Church without working for the Church. Through his team’s branding expertise and focus on helping mission-driven companies, Carson has answered the call to catechesis. After graduating from Texas A&amp;M University, Carson felt a calling in his heart. He wanted to spend more of his life studying and growing closer to Christ. This discernment led Carson to Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio, to work with Dr. Scott Hahn and earn his Master of Arts in Theology &amp; Christian Ministry with an emphasis in Catechetic Theology. While at Franciscan, Carson learned that “God loves you, and Barbara Morgan has a plan for your life.” Upon meeting Barbara, Carson realized he was called to a life of catechesis. He also met his wife while working with Barbara. Five kids later, the Weber family credits the Holy Spirit working through Barbara for many of the great things in their lives.
