He started his career in the car business in 1990 washing cars before working his way up and partnering in three different Volkswagen stores. He is now the General Manager for Sam Pack's Five Star Chevrolet in Carrollton, TX.Alan’s relationship with work took a life-changing turn when a friend challenged him to add prayer to his manager meetings. That moment made Alan realize he can and should put his faith at the forefront of every part of his business. It is a good thing Alan learned that faith comes first early in his career as preparation for what comes next. Alan faced an immense challenge when he was chairman of the VW National Dealer Council through Diesel Gate and the subsequent settlement. This scandal completely consumed Alan’s life for almost two years as he played a key role representing the needs of the dealer network while also handling the fallout at his own dealerships. He is co-organizer of Copa Católica, a soccer tournament for parishes that launched eight years ago and has seen more than 35 teams and over 500 participants. As a result of his involvement with that initiative he has organized and participated in other sports events, including as a referee. Is it ever necessary to label ourselves? Is it ever ok to label anyone else? Not according to internet celebrity and spoken-word poet, Prince Ea, whose viral video entitled "I Am Not Black, You Are Not White" claims that labels are the root of all social ills and that our identity is entirely separate from our physical reality. The video has reached over 100 million views on Facebook and over 11 million views on Youtube with an overwhelming approval rating (300 to 1 like to dislike ratio). The most liked comment on Youtube reads, "They showed this to us in school." Friends, in light of the recent scandals, I know many people are wondering whether they should remain in the Catholic Church. And I totally get that; the outrage is warranted.
