Wherefore above the governing power which aims at a particular good there must be a universal governing power in respect of the common good, otherwise there would be no cohesion towards the one object. Hence since the whole Church is one body, it behooves, if this oneness is to be preserved, that there be a governing power in respect of the whole Church, above the episcopal power whereby each particular Church is governed, and this is the power of the Pope. Consequently those who deny this power are called schismatics as causing a division in the unity of the Church. Again, between a simple bishop and the Pope there are other degrees of rank corresponding to the degrees of union, in respect of which one congregation or community includes another; thus the community of a province includes the community of a city, and the community of a kingdom includes the community of one province, and the community of the whole world includes the community of one kingdom. 2 Things Necessary to be A Man

In the ascent towards holiness and happiness, a Catholic man must build the good habits (Virtue, from the Latin, vir, meaning “manliness, moral strength, goodness, valor”) of the moral life and break the bad habits (Vice, from the Latin, vitium, meaning “defect, offense, blemish, imperfection”) which cause him to fall into sin and risk losing his salvation. Being vs. Doing

Why do so many people seem to chase what they believe will make them happy only to find out they don't feel any happier when they obtain it? As hard as we might try to not be unhappy, we often remain unhappy. In this lesson, we will examine happiness so we might be able to determine how to achieve lasting happiness rather than a transitory feeling of happiness.
The English language uses one word for "happiness," but did you ever consider that happiness may have different layers or levels? Pleasure, laetus in Latin, is the most basic of instincts. Think: ice cream, linguine etc. It is happiness but doesn't last long. Happiness in heaven, sublimitas, is everlasting. This lesson will discuss all four levels and how to move up the ladder.

Rachel Bulman | Becoming Wife

She is a nun with the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (BVM), having been received into the order in 1938 and taking her final vows in 1945. She went on to teach at St. Charles Elementary School in North Hollywood, California, where she started a sports program, coaching women's basketball, softball, volleyball, track, ping-pong, and yo-yo. In 1994 she took on a role with the Loyola University Chicago men's and women's basketball teams and since 1996 has been the team chaplain for the men's basketball team. In January 2017 she was inducted into the Ramblers' Athletics Hall of Fame. On August 21st of this year, she celebrated her 103rd birthday.

Kelly shares how one particular invitation to join a bible study changed her life. She encourages us to never underestimate what one invitation can do in the lives of others. Kelly also works with Jeff in delivering lectures based on The Activated Disciple, a study program that helps lay the foundation for being bold in the faith and bringing it to the world.

There’s a common thread among thousands of formerly sinful people we now call Saints.

In Session 2, we saw that God developed in Adam’s heart a desire to be “like God.” Adam separated his heart from God and all creation fell. Jesus Christ became the “prodigal Adam” to restore what was lost be Adam. But we must go much further!

We must discover the primacy of mercy. Mercy is ESSENTIAL to the heart of a father. You were created to be a source of life. Life goes forth from you. You were also created to be rich in mercy.

When we practice mercy, it transforms us AND the other person … then why is practicing mercy so hard?  Once again, we will see that the battle to “be a man” is waged within your own mind and heart! Fortunately, God is on your side.
