In The Call That Sent Him to Iraq (And Changed His Faith), Tom Pazili shares the moment he was asked to deploy to Iraq as a civilian advisor immediately after the war&mdash;and the prayer, fear, and faith that followed.
This conversation explores what it means to live a mission-focused life when everything in you wants comfort and certainty. Tom recounts leaving behind safety to step into a war zone with no military training, trusting that the call to serve something greater was worth the risk. Jason Shanks is convinced that the Church is evergreen from generation to generation, and must be re-presented fresh and anew. Prior to his role at OSV, Jason served as Chief Executive Officer of Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan, where he successfully combined and reorganized five separate county-based Catholic social service agencies into one regional service agency. He was recognized by Crain&rsquo;s Detroit Business with their 40 Under 40 Award in 2014. Jason also served as Secretariat Leader of Evangelization and Parish for the Diocese of Toledo and was the founder of Catholic Youth Summer Camp.
Over the last two decades, Jason&rsquo;s work has primarily focused on creating and renewing Catholic apostolates and organizations, infusing in them a new passion and growth mindset necessary to lead more people to Christ and His Church. Jason holds a BA in education from Miami University of Ohio, an MA in Theology from the Pontifical College Josephinum with an emphasis in the New Evangelization, and an MA in nonprofit administration from Mendoza College of Business of the University of Notre Dame. He also holds a certificate in Fundraising Management from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University.
Jason serves as a consultant on the Committee of Religious Liberty for the U.S Conference of Catholic Bishops. A former heavyweight boxer who finished with a 36-0 won-lost record (29 KOs), getting to No. 1 in the world where he would've fought for the heavyweight title but suffered a serious head injury (brain bleed). Last year he was inducted into both the New York State Boxing Hall of Fame and the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame. He had also been a 1996 U.S. Olympic alternate. This is the life story, the testimony, and the conversion story of Nathan Crankfield. 
It&#39;s been shared many times and in many places, but never has it been done so thoroughly, vulnerably, and transparently as this. 
 
For those who don&#39;t know, Nathan Crankfield was born and raised in Harrisburg, PA. He was baptized Lutheran, but entered the Catholic Church at age 13, becoming the first Catholic in his family. In 2015, he graduated from Mount St. Mary&#39;s University, where he received an Army ROTC Scholarship. After graduation, Nathan was commissioned and trained as an Infantry officer at Fort Benning, GA, where he completed U.S. Army Airborne School and Ranger School. Upon completion, he headed to Fort Bragg, NC, where he served in the 82nd Airborne Division for three years.
After a deployment to Afghanistan, Nathan knew it was time to pursue his love for evangelization. Throughout his life, Nathan has cultivated a deep passion for encouraging others to fulfill their potential and purpose. In 2019, he accepted a position at the Dynamic Catholic Institute, where he faithfully served as a Parish Consultant for the archdiocese of Kansas City, MO &amp; Austin, TX. Nathan served as a Resident Director at Benedictine College in Atchison, KS. He currently resides in Denver, Co with his wife; Emily and their son Jordan. Nathan currently serves as a Sales Lead for <a href="https://hallow.com/" target="_blank">Hallow</a>, the Catholic prayer &amp; meditation app.
The initial ideas around Seeking Excellence came to Nathan during his college years as he felt God calling him to serve the Church using his gifts for writing and speaking. While serving his parishes, Nathan dedicated consistent time to writing reflections to share within his community.
When the mandatory stay-at-home orders went into place in the spring of 2020, Nathan received several cancellations for his booked speaking engagements. Much like all things Nathan does in his life, he decided to make the most of the situation by evolving. He moved his in-person events to a virtual platform, gaining new audiences and identifying our world&#39;s needs. Shortly after, Seeking Excellence launched with the support of Nathan&#39;s community and several friends who committed much time to help lay the foundation to bring his dream to life. 
Nathan continues to cast a bold vision for Seeking Excellence while striving to build a strong alliance of community, which will help make a significant impact in the Church.

Father Mariusz Sztuk, another of the original members of the Riders, shares his impressions about how, when on a vacation our faith can be manifest in ways that may be outside of our normal. The riders have always been grateful to have a priest with them on their trips to be able to offer the sacraments to them. While traveling, besides their daily Mass, the men try to demonstrate their faith in public to others around them to hopefully engage with them. Father talks about how even just making the sign of the cross and praying grace at meal times in restaurants can be a witness to faith and may open doors for others who are searching.

soldier, Shannon retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the United States
Army in 2002 to enter corporate defense consulting and build his own
businesses.

He is a Certified Futurist and Long Term Analyst, a published author,
and a professional speaker. Shannon is also the founder of Authentic
Masculinity, a Men’s Lifestyle project that provides businesses,
organizations, schools, and individuals training and seminars in
maximizing male-female complementarity and efficiencies.

Shannon is fond of saying he has benefitted from the best training in
the world, which he received working for the Army, IBM, Northrop
Grumman, ManTech, GDIT, Booz Allen Hamilton, and the United States
Government.

As a soldier, Shannon was an armored reconnaissance officer and
China Foreign Area Officer. He has served in Europe, the Pentagon,
the Intelligence Community, and throughout Asia, notably as an
attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing.

Shannon returned from 14 months in Afghanistan in June of 2019, which
he describes as the most fascinating, fulfilling professional experience

On a remarkable evening in Calgary, the Catholic community gathered for a joyous and family-friendly musical event, one that resonated with men, women, and children alike. This spiritually uplifting concert was a tribute to the power of faith expressed through music, offering a rich blend of tradition, talent, and devotion.
Held in honor of St. Joseph&mdash;the Patron Saint of Canada&mdash;the event brought together voices from across the Diocese of Calgary. Selected choirs from various parishes performed sacred music that echoed the dignity and strength of this holy figure. These harmonious offerings set the tone for an unforgettable evening of reverence and unity.
At the heart of the evening was the world premiere of an original musical setting of the Litany of St. Joseph. Composed and conducted by Alberta&rsquo;s own Carlos Foggin&mdash;an award-winning maestro known for his dynamic leadership&mdash;this debut was the crescendo of the night. It marked not just a musical milestone but a spiritual one, inviting all in attendance into a deeper reflection on the virtues of St. Joseph.
The concert was more than a performance; it was a prayer in song, a communal act of praise during the 2025 Jubilee Year Celebrations. As part of the global theme Pilgrims of Hope, the evening offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness history through harmony and faith.

Traveling to the tiny table from Arkansas, the BeatiDudes welcome Dr. David Wright, Headmaster of Subiaco Academy.
