Men have been entrusted with four leadership roles. They flow from the original blessing to humanity. To fulfill these four leadership roles, men must develop within themselves the five characteristics of an authentic leader. There is incredible beauty and depth behind these leadership roles and characteristics.

There are heroic stories of men who have fulfilled them and tragic stories of those who haven’t. We cover all of them in the Fall semester of “Becoming a Man After God’s Own Heart.”

<h2>About the gear:</h2>
Although the first cufflinks appeared in the 1600s, they did not become common until the end of the 18th century. Their development is closely related to that of the men&#8217;s shirt. Men have been wearing shirt-like items of clothing since the invention of woven fabric 5,000 years BC. Although styles and methods of manufacturing changed, the underlying form remained the same: a tunic opened to the front with sleeves and collar.
By the middle of the 19th century the modern cufflink became popular. The shirt front, as well as collar and cuffs covering areas of the most wear, were made sturdier. This was practical but when clean and starched, collars and cuffs underscored the formal character of the clothing. However, they could be too stiff to secure the cuffs with a simple button. As a consequence, from the mid 19th century onward men in the middle and upper classes wore cufflinks. The industrial revolution meant that these could be mass-produced, making them available in every price category.

Auxilium Christianorum has 2 principal aims of the association: 1) To provide prayer for priests associated with Auxilium Christianorum so that their apostolate in driving out demons is efficacious. 2) To provide prayers for the members – priests, laity, family and friends – so that they are not adversely affected by the demonic.
<h3>About the Auxilium Christianorum:</h3>
The Church teaches us that it is divided into the Church Triumphant (which includes the members of the Church in heaven), the Church Suffering (this includes the members of the Church in purgatory), and the Church Militant (this refers to those members of the Church who are alive in this world). Because we are part of the Church Militant, we are in a spiritual warfare and this spiritual warfare requires that we recognize, as Saint Paul teaches us “For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood; but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places.” (Ephesians [6:12])
The members of the Auxilium Christianorum should always bear in mind the reality of our state as members of the Church living in this world. Despite St. Paul’s teaching, many Catholics do not take seriously their obligation to wage war against the demonic forces. It is, for this reason, the Association of the Auxilium Christianorum was founded.

In the ascent towards holiness and happiness, a Catholic man must build the good habits (Virtue, from the Latin, vir, meaning “manliness, moral strength, goodness, valor”) of the moral life and break the bad habits (Vice, from the Latin, vitium, meaning “defect, offense, blemish, imperfection”) which cause him to fall into sin and risk losing his salvation. Trying to improve our leadership requires a lot from us.  It requires study and thought and development of our skills.  But sometimes in the midst of all that we can forget why we’re called to lead in the first place.  What’s God’s plan for our leadership?  Why would he call us to do what we’re doing anyway?  Certainly there are many great answers to these questions but none strike as profoundly as seeing our work as an extension of the work of Christ himself; an extension of the power of the cross, an extension of salvation for a broke world.

Our culture today is at a turning point in many ways.  In general, we are deciding whether or not to allow our Christian faith to continue to inform and direct our cultural decisions.  It seems very tempting to go the route of secularism.  A neutrality with respect to faith, at least in public, in order to let religion be a purely private affair.  But is this the way for Christian leaders?  What value does our faith have in the public sphere?  Surprisingly, the life of the Virgin Mary can help us find the way.

Happiness, Sex, and The Spiritual Life (Christopher West)

Flip Howard is a dynamic entrepreneur and Catholic leader who is a role model for Catholic husbands, fathers, and now grandfathers. Flip shares his family journey, starting with the first time he met his future wife on the campus of Franciscan University in Steubenville. Diligence

He went from playing Little League baseball to 25-plus years of men's league softball to playing into his 50s with two years of vintage baseball. Meanwhile, he had also played Pop Warner football and then continued in the sport in high school and college, including being the placekicker on the undefeated 1977 team that is enshrined in the Iona College Sports Hall of Fame.  He also spent a combined total of 15 seasons coaching high school and college football.  He has been a columnist for Sports Collectors Digest magazine since 1993, specializing in Baseball Ballpark History.  He is currently co-authoring his first nonfiction book, about the 1970s Oakland A’s baseball team, to be published in 2025.  And, having written other books, he says that his adult baseball novel “The Rovers: A Tale of Fenway” has the most overtly religious themes.
