All of us are aware of the cliché that says that business somehow causes poverty or that capitalism and charity are opposed.  This however is challenged by the document that the Vatican released in 2011 called “The Vocation Of The Catholic Business Leader.”  This document issues six principles that are to guide every business leader in their vocation and its second principle says that businesses are there to help the poor.  How can this be done?

Lent: Keep Showing Up

If you’ve ever been to a big conference or a really inspiring parish mission, you might’ve had a moment of encounter that set you on fire for Jesus, only to grow discouraged a little while later when you don’t see immediate progress in your spiritual life. We’ve had that experience too.  God doesn't work on our time though. Instant gratification is what we’ve grown to expect in our culture,  but it's not that way in the spiritual life. 

The devil loves to lean into the discouragement that comes from expecting instant growth. It’s a slow process, and it’s easy to forget just how beautiful this long process of spiritual growth is. God knows what He's doing and it's up to us to be patient and to persevere.

2026 - Moving Towards God

In this special Christmas Eve episode, Victor and I reflect on the true meaning of giving your whole heart to God. Too often, we hold back out of fear—fear of being hurt, fear of what surrender really means, or even fear of giving up the “worldly things” that we think will satisfy us. But here’s the truth: the heart is where transformation happens.

When God calls us to follow Him, He doesn’t just want our minds or our actions—He wants our hearts, fully and completely. We dive deep into what it means to stop hedging your bets and go all-in with Christ, trusting Him with everything. This isn’t about perfection; it’s about choosing Him each day and giving Him access to every part of your life, even the messy places.

From scripture to the wisdom of the saints, we explore why the heart is so central to our faith:

- Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.”
- Ezekiel 36:26: God promises to replace our hearts of stone with hearts of flesh.
- Psalm 16: David’s example of choosing God as his “portion and cup.”


We also talk about the powerful reflections from Archbishop Fulton Sheen and St. Augustine:

- Fulton Sheen reminds us that part of our hearts are with God in heaven, and we’ll always feel incomplete until we turn back to Him.
- St. Augustine famously said: “You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in You.”

And let’s be honest—this hits home for all of us. So many of us try to “play it safe” with God, hedging our bets and keeping one foot in the world. We share personal stories and struggles with this, and how we’ve learned (the hard way) that true joy and peace only come when we surrender fully to God’s love.

And hey, this isn’t just for “perfect Christians.” We talk about how the journey to giving God your whole heart is ongoing—there are ups, downs, mistakes, and grace-filled moments along the way. Jesus doesn’t demand perfection; He asks for our trust, our surrender, and our love.

On this beautiful Christmas Eve, we’re reminded that God gave everything for us. He sent His only Son to take on flesh, to live among us, and ultimately to give His life for ours. If God has already given us His heart, how can we not respond by offering Him ours in return?

She told her doctor that “God doesn’t make mistakes” and welcomed baby Bill in June of that year. Bill’s wife, Mary, has a similar story about her heroic mom and the battle she endured to continue her pregnancy despite the health struggles she was facing at the time that led to her passing only months after Mary was born. WITNESSING in the Workplace | Jordan Raynor | Episode #070

Flip Howard is a dynamic entrepreneur and Catholic leader who is a role model for Catholic husbands, fathers, and now grandfathers. He has seven kids and three grandkids, and he shares a wealth of knowledge and wisdom in bite-sized nuggets. Flip shares his family journey, starting with the first time he met his future wife on the campus of Franciscan University in Steubenville. In his classic and practical way, Flip reflects on marriage by pointing out that he knows people who are happy, people who are miserable, people who have little money, and people who have a lot of money and that he cannot find a correlation between these factors. However, he points out that almost no one with a good marriage is unhappy and almost no one with a bad marriage is happy. His advice is to marry well and prioritize marriage over the things that come and go, like jobs and money. Flip goes on to share a set of parenting reflections, including: •	You have more control over the things in your kids' life than you think you do.•	The issues you are trying to address now should have been dealt with two years ago.•	You should live a life that inspires your kids to want to live like you. After entering the Church in 2022, nine of Chris’ first ten masses were in the Holy Land just before his deployment. Chris shares that the next mass he attended was in Bagdad and how, even in a foreign language, he still fully connected with the mass and experienced the grace and beauty of the Eucharist. Chris is a Founding Partner at Verde Peak Partners, where he works closely with entrepreneurs and small business owners to exit their businesses while preserving their legacy and team. Chris is also a cofounder of Shepherd's, a made-to-measure men's suiting company. He holds an MPA from Harvard Kennedy School, an MBA at Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business where he was awarded one of two full scholarships and won the international Venture Capital Investment Competition, and a BS in Political Science at Arizona State University. Lord, I Am Not Worthy That You Should Enter Under My Roof | Chris Cottrell | Episode #122

Kyle Washut is the youngest Catholic president at the youngest Catholic college in America. Kyle, President at Wyoming Catholic College (WCC), joins The BeatiDudes for an adventurous episode full of surprises, including the unique approach that WCC takes to educating and forming its students. WCC is a “great books school” where every student starts their freshmen year by spending several weeks in the wilderness. They all receive the same degree, a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts. In addition to spending a semester on horseback, the entire student body memorizes a repertoire of poems and songs that unite them in the classroom and around the campfire. Kyle, a Wyoming native, has been with WCC since its inception. Growing up in Casper, Wyoming, he worked in nuclear missile silos and coal mines during his teenage years, receiving an AA in Political Science and a second in Spanish from Casper College in 2003. While in Casper, he studied under two of WCC’s eventual founders, Dr. Robert Carlson and Fr. Robert Cook. He began his journey toward Wyoming Catholic by serving as a dishwasher at the annual Wyoming School for Catholic Thought, where the idea for the College was first proposed.He graduated from Thomas Aquinas College in 2007 with a B.A. in Liberal Arts and returned to Wyoming (and Wyoming Catholic) as the inaugural Assistant Dean for Student Life—a position he held until departing in the Fall of 2009 to pursue a graduate degree in Sacred Theology from Austria’s International Theological Institute (ITI). While in Austria, he continued to work for the College, coordinating its inaugural high-school (PEAK) and adult education (WSCT) summer programs, before returning as a full-time professor in early 2012. Washut has taught across the College’s curriculum since his return—theology and philosophy, as well as her distinctive Trivium and Humanities courses. In addition to serving as Visiting Associate Professor of Patristics and Ecclesiastical History at St. Cyril and Methodius Byzantine Catholic Seminary in Pittsburgh, he has worked closely with a number of the College’s Administrative offices, including Admissions, Advancement, and the Outdoor Leadership Program (OLP). In the Fall of 2019, he was named Academic Dean and served in that capacity for four years before being named President in August 2023.On Blessed are the Joke Makers, the Dudes must take on the persona of a shop-a-holic to address the prompt, “I would be the patron saint of _______.” The TBD question of the day – share a story or memory about your grandfather.
