Bonus Episode: Quitting the Internet

Every year since 1981 a tournament has taken place to promote high school baseball in Hillsborough County (Tampa, Florida area). It was first established as a memorial for Tony Saladino, Sr. and has grown from eleven public schools to now a 32-team event, with 38 players that have participated in the tournament having gone on to play in the Major Leagues, 12 of which were first round draft picks. The guest on this episode of CSR has been at the heart of all of this for all those years and is a lifelong Catholic.

You can change the world. Yes, one person can change the world. All things are possible through Jesus Christ and one of the things that is possible is that you can change the world. So you are probably asking how? How can I change the world? You unlock your power to change the world by becoming a saint. All of us are called to be saints.

We accomplish this by drawing closer to God in prayer, the Sacraments, and reading scripture. If we do these three fundamental things we will find ourselves growing in holiness and changing the world. It begins by saying "yes" to God on a daily basis. Will you say "yes" today?

Jennifer Baugh | The Linkage of God

Witty, intelligent, sharp-dressed, and fun-loving…Vulnerable, faithful, heart-wrenching, and inspirational….Meet John Kunz, a devoted husband and father who is doing his best to form his family in the faith. In 2021, John and his wife received the diagnosis during their 5th pregnancy that their baby boy had Hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) - - a rare congenital heart defect that prevents the left side of the heart from developing properly during pregnancy. Jack was born in November of 2021 and passed three weeks later. Listening to John speak about the emotional and physically challenging journey of welcoming Jack and then saying goodbye to him soon after is an experience you won’t want to miss. John’s love for family and trust in God serves as a witness to the love that can only be experienced through Christ. John and his wife were blessed to conceive two more children after Jack’s passing; the first passed in the womb, and the second is a spry toddler, bringing light and life to the family daily. This episode is truly special. In Session 2, we looked at the “greatest modern saint” and saw that she was a “chip off the old block.” In this session we will consider the “greatest modern prophet and miracle worker” in the Church - St. Don Bosco.

Perhaps the greatest miracle that Don Bosco worked is developing a “fool proof” method for forming youth.  The foundation of the Preventive System is the abiding presence of the father. Indeed, Don Bosco based the entire system upon the vision of a father within the home.

Above all else, the father was to ensure the moral and spiritual formation of his children so that one day they
would all be together in heaven.  We will see that, “Bad books, bad companions and bad habits” lead innocent youths astray. We are called to be the protectors of our families.  

Today, the enemy is most frequently within our gates and God has given us a stern warning.

Fatherhood Session 3 - The Formation of a Child

Wadi & Jackie Barreto are the coordinators of Miami Retrouvaille, the Retrouvaille community for the Archdiocese of Miami. Retrouvaille (French for rediscovery) is an international program for married couples facing difficult challenges in their marriage. Wadi & Jackie also serve with Annunciation Ministries as Parish Marriage Missionaries serving the Archdiocese of Miami. Wadi also serves helping the Archdiocese of Miami Catholic Men’s Conferences and the Emmaus movement, and Jackie serves women through the St. Brendan Catholic Church Women’s Emmaus group.
