Composed and conducted by Alberta&rsquo;s own Carlos Foggin&mdash;an award-winning maestro known for his dynamic leadership&mdash;this debut was the crescendo of the night. It marked not just a musical milestone but a spiritual one, inviting all in attendance into a deeper reflection on the virtues of St. Joseph.
The concert was more than a performance; it was a prayer in song, a communal act of praise during the 2025 Jubilee Year Celebrations. As part of the global theme Pilgrims of Hope, the evening offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness history through harmony and faith.

Guest Martin Watjen, founder of Elevated Parish Missions, joins the table from Steubenville, Ohio, bringing humor, humility, and holy conviction about what it means to help people move faith from head knowledge to heart encounter.

Martin shares his wild road trip with eight kids, his time working security for the federal government, and his leap of faith when he left a comfortable role at Franciscan University to follow God’s call. That there is a marital debt to be paid
As the slave is in the power of his master, so is one spouse in the power of the other (1 Cor. 7:4). But a slave is bound by an obligation of precept to pay his master the debt of his service according to Rom. 13:7, Render … to all men their dues, tribute to whom tribute is due, etc. Therefore husband and wife are mutually bound to the payment of the marriage debt.[1]

Whether the Husband is bound to pay the debt even if his wife does not ask for it?
I answer that, The debt may be demanded in two ways. First, explicitly, as when they ask one another by words; secondly, implicitly, when namely the husband knows by certain signs that the wife would wish him to pay the debt, but is silent through shame. And so even though she does not ask for the debt explicitly in words, the husband is bound to pay it, whenever his wife shows signs of wishing him to do so.[2]
WHETHER HUSBAND AND WIFE ARE EQUAL IN THE MARRIAGE ACT?[3]
I answer that, Equality is twofold, of quantity and of proportion. Equality of quantity is that which is observed between two quantities of the same measure, for instance a thing two cubits long and another two cubits in length. But equality of proportion is that which is observed between two proportions of the same kind as double to double. Accordingly, speaking of the first equality, husband and wife are not equal in marriage; neither as regards the marriage act, wherein the more noble part is due to the husband, nor as regards the household management, wherein the wife is ruled and the husband rules. But with reference to the second kind of equality, they are equal in both matters, because just as in both the marriage act and in the management of the household the husband is bound to the wife in all things pertaining to the husband, so is the wife bound to the husband in all things pertaining to the wife. It is in this sense that it is stated in the text (iv. Sent. D. 32) that they are equal in paying and demanding the debt.[4]
WHETHER HUSBAND AND WIFE CAN TAKE A VOW CONTRARY TO THE MARRIAGE DEBT WITHOUT THEIR MUTUAL CONSENT?[5]
I answer that, no.
WHETHER IT IS FORBIDDEN TO DEMAND THE DEBT ON HOLY DAYS?[6]
I answer that, Although the marriage act is void of sin, nevertheless since it oppresses the reason on account of the carnal pleasure, it renders man unfit for spiritual things. Therefore, on those days when one ought especially to give one’s time to spiritual things, it is not lawful to ask for the debt.[7]
WHETHER IT IS A MORTAL SIN TO ASK FOR THE DEBT AT A HOLY TIME?[8]
I answer that, To ask for the debt on a feast day is not a circumstance drawing a sin into another species; wherefore it cannot aggravate infinitely. Consequently a wife or husband does not sin mortally by asking for the debt on a feast day. It is however a more grievous sin to ask for the sake of mere pleasure, than through fear of the weakness of the flesh.[9]
WHETHER ONE SPOUSE IS BOUND TO PAY THE DEBT TO THE OTHER AT A FESTAL TIME?[10]
I answer that, Since the wife has power of her husband’s body, and vice versa, with regard to the act of procreation, the one is bound to pay the debt to the other, at any season or hour, with due regard to the decorum required in such matters, for this must not be done at once openly.[11]

A pilgrim carries only what he needs. The freedom we encounter on a pilgrimage can reveal just how much our lives are cluttered by activities or material things. Not all of these are bad, but the pilgrim needs to be mindful of what helps or hinders him on his pilgrimage to heaven. (12 minutes)

He competed for four years in track and field in high school and present day is a coach of an evangelical nature. He is the founder of Holy Family Evangelization, a Catholic coaching organization, AND he is the author of a brand-new book just being released, called, "How to Evangelize Anyone," which is a complete reversal for someone who was an atheist. He has evangelized at universities, Fortune 500 companies, and various non-profits in the U.S., Latin America, and Asia. He has also advised numerous organizations and parishes on evangelization and catechesis.

About the Topic:
“And when you fast, do not look dismal, like the hypocrites, for they disfigure  their faces that their fasting may be seen by men. Truly, I say to you, they have their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by men but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father whose in secret will reward you.” Matthew 6:16-18
Jesus says “when you fast” not “if you fast”. He expected us to fast. But we should not fast out of dieting or pride, but out of love of God. 
Fasting improves us spiritually in several ways (from <a href="https://jimmyakin.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jimmy Akin</a>):

<ol class="ol1">
 	<li class="li1">We express our recognition that spiritual things are more important than physical things.</li>
 	<li class="li1">We learn to deny ourselves pleasures, even in spite of pain. (Increase in fortitude)</li>
 	<li class="li1">We declare that we recognize the need to reform and to get closer to God.</li>
 	<li class="li1">We willingly embrace the hunger fasting produces as a sign of being willing to shoulder the burdens of others (Col. 1:24 - “Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I complete what is Lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the Church…”). What is lacking: Christ’s sufferings were, of course, sufficient for our redemption, but all of us may add ours to his, in order that the fruits of his redemption be applied to the souls of men. </li>
 	<li class="li1">We express humility before God by adopting a humble posture, recognizing our dependence on him and affirming our submissiveness to his will.</li>
</ol> 
4 classes of penitents who committed major sins (idolatry, murder, abortion, adultery) in the ancient formal penitential discipline:

<ol class="ol1">
 	<li class="li1">Weepers - Not allowed in the church but stayed outside and asked those going in to pray for them.</li>
 	<li class="li1">Hearers - Stood inside the church doors and heard the liturgy of the word but were dismissed before the liturgy of the Eucharist.</li>
 	<li class="li1">Kneelers - knelt or lay down in church and participated with the Church in specific prayers for them before being blessed by the bishop and dismissed prior to the Eucharist. </li>
 	<li class="li1">Standers - sat in the congregation and stayed for the liturgy of the Eucharist but did not receive Communion.</li>
</ol> 
5 Tips when Fasting:

<ol class="ol1">
 	<li class="li1">Have a specific intention for your suffering. Visualize the person you are praying for or the grace you are asking God to give you.</li>
 	<li class="li1">Set a schedule. Scheduling how your day will look helps avoid moments of inactivity. Helps to go to sleep on time and get up early.</li>
 	<li class="li1">Increase the amount of water you drink per day.</li>
 	<li class="li1">Take multi-vitamins. When you fast you will become deficient in some vitamins your body is used to having.</li>
 	<li class="li1">Don’t complain. No one should know you are fasting.</li>
</ol> 
Canon Law on Feast Days: 
Can. 1246 §1. Sunday, on which by apostolic tradition the paschal mystery is celebrated, must be observed in the universal Church as the primordial holy day of obligation. The following days must also be observed: the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Epiphany, the Ascension, the Body and Blood of Christ, Holy Mary the Mother of God, her Immaculate Conception, her Assumption, Saint Joseph, Saint Peter and Saint Paul the Apostles, and All Saints.
Canon Law on Days of Penance: 
Can. 1251 Abstinence from meat, or from some other food as determined by the Episcopal Conference, is to be observed on all Fridays, unless a solemnity should fall on a Friday. Abstinence and fasting are to be observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.
Can. 1252 The law of abstinence binds those who have completed their fourteenth year. The law of fasting binds those who have attained their majority, until the beginning of their sixtieth year. Pastors of souls and parents are to ensure that even those who by reason of their age are not bound by the law of fasting and abstinence, are taught the true meaning of penance.
Can. 1253 The conference of bishops can determine more precisely the observance of fast and abstinence as well as substitute other forms of penance, especially works of charity and exercises of piety, in whole or in part, for abstinence and fast.

<h2>Twelve  Steps  of  Humility</h2>
Step 1. A first step is taken when one consciously obeys all of God’s commandments, never ignoring them but always holding within himself a fear of God in his heart.
Step 2. The second step is achieved when one thinks not about pleasing himself but instead follow the injunction of the Lord.
Step 3. The third step is reached when out of love of God, one obediently submits to a superior in imitation of the Lord.
Step 4. The fourth step is achieved when one, under obedience, patiently and quietly endures all thing that are inflicted on him.  It should make no difference whether the trials are painful, unjust or even completely beyond his understanding; he should neither tire nor give up.
Step 5. The fifth step is reached when one humbly discloses to his superior all the evil thoughts in his heart, as well as those faults and evil acts he has actually committed.
Step 6. To achieve the sixth step one must without qualms accept all that is crude and harsh; at all times he considers himself a poor and worthless workman.
Step 7. The seventh step is attained when one not only confesses that he is an inferior and common wretch, but believes it to his very core.  He must be willing to humble himself.
Step 8. One reaches the eighth step of humility when he does only that which is demanded by the common rule of his seniors.
Step 9. The ninth step can be achieved when one, practicing silence, only speaks when asked a question.
Step 10. The tenth step is climbed when one restrains himself from undue laughter and frivolity.
Step 11. To reach the eleventh step one must speak gently, without jests, but simply, seriously, tersely, rationally and softly.
Step 12. The final step is attained only when one can at all times show humility not only in his appearance and actions, but also in his heart.

<h2>About our drink:</h2>
We sipped on a little homebrew from Southeast Oklahoma. We were told it was a Choc beer. There are several discussions of the origin and composition of choc beer, but the one that seems most realistic is that the name was first applied to an alcoholic drink made by the Choctaw Indians from wild plants found in what is now Southeastern Oklahoma.
However, by the mid-1930&#8217;s, during the depression years, choc generally referred to any homemade, slightly alcoholic beverage. The drink was made from a variety of inexpensive raw materials, depending on availibility, and was usually barely palatable. In the Southwest, the fermenting liquid that dripped from ensilage and collected in the bottom of silos was sometimes drunk. It was also not unusual for people to collect spoiled fruit from grocery stores, put the fruit in a bucket of water, and leave it under their house porch until it fermented. Luckily, the process has been tweaked over the years so it is light, refreshing, and very drinkable.

Daily.

They unveiled their hearts and wounds and problems to Him.

They offered him thanks and gratitude.

They left their sufferings with Him on the altar.

They begged for His help.

Father David converted to Catholicism as an undergraduate at the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned his Bachelors Degree. He also holds Masters Degrees in Sacred Theology and Divinity and has spent many years as a priest studying clinical counseling and Psychoanalysis at the Pittsburgh Psychoanalytic Center where he is an academic candidate. In 1987 the Philokalia was given to Father David as a gift; this gift sparked a love for the Desert Fathers and Eastern Spirituality that Father David has developed for over thirty years. A Defense for the Intellectual Life

He coached for 35 years and, at De La Salle High School, a private, Roman Catholic school for boys in California, finished with a 399-25-3 record, including a national record 151 consecutive victories, which became the subject of a major motion picture. A number of his players went on to play and/or coach in the NFL. He had played college football himself as a running back at the University of Utah and then San Jose State, and he is the author of a book called, "Chasing Perfection: The Principles Behind Winning Football the De La Salle Way." He also is a speaker who gives talks to parents, teachers, students, and even corporations.

Patti Defilippis is the director of all the Saint Luke Productions live dramas and the screenwriter for the feature film Thérèse. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater, she began her career at the Alley Theater in Houston, Texas. She then acted in the Fort Worth Shakespeare Festival, as well as various dinner theaters. Expanding to the West Coast, Patti performed with the Oregon Shakespearean Festival in Ashland, Oregon. There, she met her husband, Leonardo Defilippis. While in Ashland, she experienced a conversion to Catholicism, which changed the direction of her theatrical career. Since coming into the Church, Patti has enjoyed more than 45 years directing, writing and performing in the spiritual films and plays of Saint Luke Productions. Although she was trained as an actress, she finds the behind-the-scenes elements of theater and film more rewarding. She enjoys collaborating in, refining, and editing Leonardo’s broad and ambitious vision for a new Catholic presence in the media.
