Most guys tell me they want to be better men, husbands, and fathers and I’ve learned that we can’t do it alone. We need community. Participation in men’s groups help us beat feelings of isolation and loneliness. They’re places where we can share our struggles as husbands and fathers, support others during setbacks and celebrate spiritual growth.

On this podcast, we learn that:
 - Isolation often breeds self-oriented behaviors, such as addiction to drugs, alcohol, or porn.
 - The right men’s group provides a place to be seen, loved, and heard.
 - A strong brotherhood fosters accountability and encouragement.

Currently at St. Joseph's College in Indiana, his alma mater, he previously was the Director of Athletics for ten years at Seattle University after having held the same position for 15 years at the University of San Francisco, both of which are Jesuit schools. Before all that he was the Athletic Director (and was even the basketball coach) at St. Joseph's, where he had played basketball during his college days. Active with the Knights of Columbus, he also served on the Executive Board in Seattle for the Special Olympics and was part of the decision to host the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games there.

There is incredible beauty and depth behind these leadership roles and characteristics.

There are heroic stories of men who have fulfilled them and tragic stories of those who haven’t. We cover all of them in the Fall semester of “Becoming a Man After God’s Own Heart.”

From 2010 to 2015, she underwent spiritual formation with the Secular Institute of Notre-Dame de Vie in France and Germany. Truthfully, there’s a fool-proof process we should take when we need to return to the Father and ask for His help.

- Humility is the first step toward rebuilding a relationship with God.
- Allowing ourselves to be vulnerable keeps us open to His plan.
- When we surrender ourselves to God’s will, we are able to fully experience His help and love.

Shaila has a heart for people coming to know Jesus and is passionate about helping the local church flourish. Sean received his Bachelor’s of Arts at UC Berkeley, where he studied physics and was on the men’s gymnastics team. He completed his Master of Arts in Theology with a Salesian Studies concentration at the Dominican School of Philosophy &amp; Theology. His Masters thesis analyzed the ecclesiology inherent to documents of the Second Vatican Council, and proposes the Scriptural notion of liturgy as an interpretive lens that elucidates the relationship between formal ritual worship and its integrated expression in everyday life. His exploration led to practical applications geared toward the animation of the faithful in the Church’s mission, including the Lay Mission Project: an in-depth disciple-community formation experience that enables the laity to live the faith in their daily lives, foster strong relationships, and transform your world. In his spare time, Sean co-founded Traverse Fitness, a ninja warrior gym that trains the current, and next generation of obstacle course racers, many of whom are underprivileged kids whose memberships are discounted and subsidized through donations. American Ninja Warrior, Sean Bryan on Peak Performance and Evangelization

Today we hear Jesus at the Last Supper reveal that Judas will betray Him and mysteriously refer to the horrible fate that awaits His betrayer. We’ll reflect upon need for every Catholic man to build the Virtue of Obedience so he can always fulfill his sacred duty to attend Sunday Mass.  We’ll also consider the importance for every Catholic man to grow in the Virtue of Diligence so he can strive to honor God with every thought, word and deed.
