He attended the University of Waikato in Hamilton New Zealand, completing Bachelor's degrees in Science, majoring in Mathematics, and in Law with honors. He then completed a Master of Theology in Orthodox Studies at the University of Wales, in 2010 followed by a Ph.D. in Orthodox ecclesiology in 2015 at the University of Winchester, England. He presently works as a distance tutor for the Institute for Orthodox Christian Studies in Cambridge, England. He serves as a priest in the Western Rite deanery in the UK under the Russian Church Outside Russia. He has enjoyed engaging in Facebook discussions for a number of years after contributing to Orthodox blogs before this. Erick Ybarra is a Latin rite Catholic speaker and blogger. Having graduated from the University of Central Florida with a B.S, he currently works for a global manufacturer in Technology. While entering University as an atheist, he had an encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ through the Reformed Baptist tradition. Sean welcomes the first woman into the pub for this engaging discussion about how men and women are called to support and encourage each other using the unique gifts God has endowed upon all of us. &nbsp;Kelly Walquist is co-founder with Jeff Cavins of the Archbishop Flynn Catechetical Institute with the mission to further students’ spiritual formation and deepen understanding of the Catholic Faith to be better missionaries and disciples in the world. &nbsp;Kelly is also the founder of WINE (Women In the New Evangelization). Women are encouraged to complement each other in their own gifts, then expand to encouraging others including, and especially, men in the church.
Kelly shares how one particular invitation to join a bible study changed her life. She encourages us to never underestimate what one invitation can do in the lives of others. Kelly also works with Jeff in delivering lectures based on The Activated Disciple, a study program that helps lay the foundation for being bold in the faith and bringing it to the world.

Born and raised near Philadelphia, PA, he later attended the Franciscan University of Steubenville, studying mathematics and humanities. Upon graduating, he entered the Dominican Province of St. Joseph in 2010 and was ordained in 2016. "It was St. Thomas Aquinas who first introduced me to the Order, and by his prayers that I grew in knowledge and love of its saving mission and ultimately came to find my happiness in Order of Friars Preachers." Learn more on Papal Infallibility <a href="https://www.catholic.com/magazine/print-edition/infallibility">here</a>. --- Here's the section we read from the ST: I answer that, Wherever there are several authorities directed to one purpose, there must needs be one universal authority over the particular authorities, because in all virtues and acts the order is according to the order of their ends (Ethic. i, 1,2). Now the common good is more Godlike than the particular good. Wherefore above the governing power which aims at a particular good there must be a universal governing power in respect of the common good, otherwise there would be no cohesion towards the one object. Every leader needs to pray.  The best gauge of h ow much we can stand for is the dignity of the One before whom we knee.  Prayer is the heart of leadership because it preservers the heart of the leader.  And the inner spirit that soars towards God can transform the world as needed.  One of the most powerful prayers for leaders is the prayer of The Litany Of Humility and I’m looking to sharing about it with you.

Courageous leadership requires courageous leaders.  And that’s what we find in the lives of many Saints, but few saints excel in the areas of zeal and apostolic labors like Saint Junipero Serra.  I’d like to look at his life in particular because it reminds us of the urgency to both spread the Gospel and the willingness to lay down our lives in order to make this happen.  Obviously this is something that we can apply to all the calls of God in our lives.

Becoming A Disciple Part 1: Repentance

Throughout the Gospels, Christ invites us to know Him, not just know about Him. Pope Benedict said, “Many people perceive Christianity as something institutional, rather than an encounter with Christ, which explains why they don’t see it as a source of joy.”

From the Sacraments to Scriptures, to songs and prayers, Catholicism creates opportunities for each and every one of us to experience the closeness and friendship of God. This is the “why” of our faith.
