From Atheist to Catholic Priest w/ Fr. Mark Goring

She has played softball for Team USA as well as professionally, plus she enjoyed a college career at LSU that consisted of three Women's College World Series appearances and her being named an All American two times. She is a relative newlywed and a cradle Catholic. Among other great reflections, she talks about the Catholic church in Thailand that she and her husband found on their honeymoon and why it was unique in terms of imagery.

It has worked its way into the minds and hearts of our young people, into the world of entertainment, and into the boardrooms of powerful corporations. But what is it precisely, and where did it come from? Bishop Barron argues in his presentation that “wokeism” is a popularization of critical theory, a farrago of ideas coming out of the French and German academies in the mid-twentieth century. Commitment

The Epiphany

He was drafted by the NFL's Miami Dolphins and went on to play for both the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots after having played college football at Villanova University on a full athletic scholarship. He is a member of three halls of fame, went on to become a radio announcer for the Philadelphia Eagles, and has even run five half-marathons. Also an inspirational speaker, he has an amazing story of being a cancer survivor and amputee. He is currently writing a book about his Catholic journey, which follows a book he previously wrote, called, "Tackling Life: How Faith, Family, Friends, and Fortitude Kept an NFL Linebacker in the Game."

After his recent retirement, Andrew has continued to pour his time and energy into his family and his work with Regnum Christi, where he currently serves as the local director for North Texas. He played for the National Hockey League's Nashville Predators as well as many years with the American Hockey League's Milwaukee Admirals, plus he has been playing pro hockey overseas in Europe (Italy, Norway, Switzerland). A cradle Catholic, he played his college hockey at Notre Dame and never missed a game (163 consecutive games).

He played for Major League Baseball's Montreal Expos after having been chosen by them in the ninth round of the 1997 MLB Amateur Draft out of Jacksonville University.  At that school he hit better than .330 each season with the Dolphins, including a school record .450 batting average in 1997, when he earned multiple honors. As a student-athlete he had previously played at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in Alabama, where he was a two-time all-conference selection. After having been an administrator and coach for the Pensacola Pelicans/Blue Wahoos Baseball Club for nine years, he currently runs Coach T's Hit Lab, offering professional batting lessons and baseball clinics, as well as youth, high school, college and pro evaluations and analysis.

Understanding what perfection means

Jesus warns men to be watchful in the Parable of Watchful Slaves. Every Catholic man can grow in happiness by seeking the Gift of Piety from the Holy Spirit so he can enter more deeply into the liturgy of the Church to prepare for the coming of Jesus Christ and by cultivating the Virtue of Diligence so he can vigilantly battle to live a more orderly and holy life and be ready to meet Jesus Christ at any time.

There’s a common thread among thousands of formerly sinful people we now call Saints.

They had a relationship with God.

They offered him thanks and gratitude.

They left their sufferings with Him on the altar.

They begged for His help.

A Protestant Seminarian Reverts to the Catholic Church

I don’t think any of us have any doubt that leadership can be lonely.  It’s like they say, “It’s lonely at the top.”  St. Paul knew this from the inside and at times in his writings even mentions how hard it was for him to be alone.  And at the same time St. Paul cultivated friendships and had deep and profound relationships.   This becomes a model for us – the lonely, befriended leader.
