Have you ever felt like leadership is real burden to you? Today’s reflection focuses on what St. Joseph shows us about how anxiety and difficulty actually spur us on to an ownership that allows God to do his great work. How we deal with anxiety and our way of carrying it through helps us to realize that daring something great for Christ is a privilege and an honor. What happens when you pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet in St. Faustina’s backyard? 
This week, Father Dave shares powerful moments from his recent pilgrimage to Poland—visiting sacred sites tied to St. Maximilian Kolbe, St. Faustina, and St. John Paul II. You’ve heard of the wolf of Gubbio, wait until you hear of the *cue ominous music* “New Year’s Resolution”! Here is a recording of my presentation at our local Made for Greatness event.

He has won both a Super Bowl and college football national championship. He is entering his second season as Tulane University's special teams coordinator after having spent the 2022 season coordinating special teams for the USFL's Houston Gamblers and XFL's Houston Roughnecks. Prior to 2022, he spent five seasons with LSU, where he joined the staff as an analyst in 2017 and later took over as special teams coordinator. That followed his having spent eleven years with the NFL's New Orleans Saints, the first two as assistant special teams coordinator followed by nine seasons as special teams coordinator. During his time there the team won the Super Bowl in February 2010 over the Indianapolis Colts. He has spent decades around the game, first as a safety at Eastern Illinois and then as a coach at eight different schools over a 25-year period.

The CATO Institute conducted a study that concluded that 62% of Americans have political opinions that they are afriad to share. &nbsp;&nbsp;
Who can't relate to that? We've all got some opinions we are afraid to share. They could be in regards to faith, politics, and/or culture. &nbsp;&nbsp;And many cave in to that fear. But shouldn't we embrace it instead? After all, it's one whole hell of a lot easier posting something on social media than it is standing up to serious oppression and opposition. &nbsp;&nbsp;
God calls us to stand firm in the truth. He wants us to have the courge to boldly proclaim the Gospel and defend the faith. Courage is built up over time. It doesn't just magically appear when you need it. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Advent Spirituality, Part Two

He played college football, first at William Penn University and then at Missouri Western State University, including playing in a combined total of three bowl games. After college he played club lacrosse for several years and became an avid cyclist and swimmer and even competed in two short-course triathlons. In high school he was team captain for varsity football and was a three-time Missouri state qualifier in swimming and senior year state qualifier in discus. On the faith side, he is a convert and serves as Deacon and Minister of Evangelization at the Church of the Nativity in Leawood, Kansas, and was recently appointed to the Archdiocese Synodal Team.

Finding True Joy

This happens all the time. A faithful Catholic gets invited to what they know will be an invalid wedding. Perhaps it&#39;s the wedding of a divorced family member, or a cousin getting married outside the Church, or a same-sex wedding of an old high school friend. 

What is the person to do? The nice Christians will tell you to, without question, attend the wedding and celebrate with the loved one. The rigid Christians might say there is no circumstance in which you should attend. What&#39;s the right answer? 

Today, we look deeply at this question and seek to find the right solution.

He played football, basketball and ran track, and then in high school played football, going on then to be on the football roster for Catholic University in Washington DC. He went on to become the offensive line coach at Georgetown Prep from 1984 through 2023, retired from coaching after the 2023 season, but came back this season to help the new offensive line coach transition from having been their tight ends coach. On top of all that, he also coached his own children in youth basketball and lacrosse. Along the way, in 2014 he received the John W. Voight award from the Maryland Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame, was inducted into the Georgetown Prep Sports Hall of Fame in 2019, and last year was a Georgetown Prep Insignis Medal Recipient, which is the school's highest honor.

WOF 110: Word on Fire in 2018

She played tennis at Furman University, with the program consistently finishing as a ranked team. They won the regular season conference championship for DI Southern Conference four times and the tournament three times and attended the NCAA tournament every year except for her senior year, when she was named MVP. She ran cross-country her senior year and a month after graduating ran her first marathon, finishing second in Italy. She had two opportunities to run professionally and has run four 50 miler races, finishing 3rd in the American River 50 Miler and winning several 50k's. She had grown up playing tennis since age three and played tournaments in England and Italy. She came to the Catholic faith while in college, which she talks about during this interview.

The executive director of CYO for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis where he oversees 24 thousand youth and seven thousand adult volunteers. He spent 27 years as the head football coach of the ten-time state champion Royals at Roncalli High School, a co-ed Catholic high school in Indianapolis. He led the program to seven Indiana football state championships and was named Coach of the Year twelve times. He has been inducted into three Halls of Fame and in 2017 was the recipient of the prestigious National Football Foundation "Distinguished American Award." After a successful football career at Butler University, he attended training camp with the Cincinnati Bengals.

CSR 152 Bruce Scifres

She played college basketball under the famous coach Geno Auriemma at the University of Connecticut after a high school career as a student-athlete that saw her set records in basketball, plus she competed in soccer as well. Presently she is a missionary at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia as part of the Fellowship of Catholic University Students and a part of Varsity Catholic.

CSR 135 Molly Bent

John Frankman is a Catholic man who loves the United States of America. After spending several years in seminary at Mount St. Mary&#39;s University, he joined the US Army as an Infantry Officer. 
 
I first met John at the Mount. We then met up again during our Infantry training as well as during our time in Ranger School. John went on to do much cooler things than I did, eventually becoming a green beret in the US Army Special Forces. 
 
John had plans for his next assignment at West Point. All of his hard work seemed irrelevant to his commanding officers as soon as he made one pivotal decision in the fall of 2020. He made a choice based on his conscience and filed a religious exemption that was denied by some and ignored by others. 
 
In today&#39;s episode, John shares his experience of having his career come to an end due to an unlawful and immoral order.
