That Man is You! is about a vision ... that you experience. Normally, we have the ability to lead you through it, but in this mini-series, we must jump right in!  What does it mean to be a man?

Christ was proclaimed “the man” at precisely the moment that he offered his life for his bride. We must carefully consider this moment. It will teach us much about the heart of a man.

The Church is purified in the water flowing from Christ’s wounded heart. It is a heart that has a consuming thirst for an encounter with God the Father. This is the light shining on manhood for all men including the first man.

To be a man means embracing the sacrifice asked by God the Father for the sake of the bride. When we do so, our heart becomes a channel for grace that purifies and gives life to the bride. Living this calling has been a challenge “from the beginning.”

For a lot of Catholics, Lent is a time of finding the easiest way to “give something up”. But, at the end of those 40 days, did that sacrifice really make a difference?

This year, there’s a new opportunity out there specifically for men that will actually help you grow closer to God and become a better man.

You’ve heard me talk about Exodus 90 — but let me tell you about Exodus Lent: a 40-day journey that will challenge you to dig a little deeper this year.

If your first reaction is: “I’m absolutely not taking cold showers” well you’re in luck: men who take on the Exodus Lent get to take warm showers, drink alcohol, and — when you’re with others — watch TV and sports. But don’t be fooled, this will still be a challenging 40 days of preparation for living the Christian life, for the rest of your life.

Here’s how it works:

First — Over the 40 days of Lent, men commit to daily prayer, setting aside a minimum of 20 minutes to spend with the Lord. Each day includes a scripture reading and reflection written to help men better understand, grow in, and live virtue.

Second — More than just giving up chocolate, men take up a range of disciplines and sacrifices for the season of Lent. Sweets, snacks, social media, are all gone.

Third — Men commit to a fraternity of 5-7 men. Each week, the fraternity meets to pray together, check in, hold each other accountable and encourage one another.

On Easter Sunday, you’ll walk away with a new and lasting understanding of what it means to live the full Christian life. Chocolate bunnies and all.

In this episode, Victor Adams and I talk about PURPOSE. It’s all too easy for our daily lives to feel like an endless cycle of repetition. So we try to find things to give us pleasure and avoid a feeling of emptiness. The problem is, we look to everything else besides the one person who can truly give us purpose.

Psalm 57:2 tells us that God is the one who fulfills his purpose for each one of us. If we want to find the purpose we’re looking for in life, we have to set aside all the other things we turn to and start talking and listening to God.

In this episode, we learn that:
- When you don’t have a purpose, life becomes all about your feelings.
- Lack of purpose is the root of addictions and other issues.
- There’s a longing in yourself that only God can fulfill.

Fr. David Aufiero grew up in a troubled home, and after losing his father and grandmother, he reluctantly met with a local priest to talk through his difficulties. That one conversation led him to become the man he is today.

Fr. David knows well the struggles that men face and that the only way to overcome them is to bring the things we hide in the dark into the light. But it’s hard for men to open up and be vulnerable. How do you even begin to reach a whole parish?

That's when he came across Just a Guy in The Pew. We were able to provide him with the tools and resources to get started, and even go in person to his parish to help launch this group for men. Now, more than a year later, Fr. David testifies to the positive effects that come from creating a space for men to support and challenge each other to grow in holiness.
