2nd commandment – Thou shalt not take the Lord’s name in vain  (CCC 2142-2167)
2142 The second commandment prescribes respect for the Lord's name. Like the first commandment, it belongs to the virtue of religion and more particularly it governs our use of speech in sacred matters.
2143 Among all the words of Revelation, there is one which is unique: the revealed name of God. God confides his name to those who believe in him; he reveals himself to them in his personal mystery. The gift of a name belongs to the order of trust and intimacy. "The Lord's name is holy." For this reason man must not abuse it. He must keep it in mind in silent, loving adoration. He will not introduce it into his own speech except to bless, praise, and glorify it.74
2146 The second commandment forbids the abuse of God's name, i.e., every improper use of the names of God, Jesus Christ, but also of the Virgin Mary and all the saints.
2147 Promises made to others in God's name engage the divine honor, fidelity, truthfulness, and authority. They must be respected in justice. To be unfaithful to them is to misuse God's name and in some way to make God out to be a liar.77
2148 Blasphemy is directly opposed to the second commandment. It consists in uttering against God - inwardly or outwardly - words of hatred, reproach, or defiance; in speaking ill of God; in failing in respect toward him in one's speech; in misusing God's name. St. James condemns those "who blaspheme that honorable name [of Jesus] by which you are called."78 The prohibition of blasphemy extends to language against Christ's Church, the saints, and sacred things. It is also blasphemous to make use of God's name to cover up criminal practices, to reduce peoples to servitude, to torture persons or put them to death. The misuse of God's name to commit a crime can provoke others to repudiate religion.
2150 The second commandment forbids false oaths. Taking an oath or swearing is to take God as witness to what one affirms. It is to invoke the divine truthfulness as a pledge of one's own truthfulness. An oath engages the Lord's name. "You shall fear the LORD your God; you shall serve him, and swear by his name."
2808 In the decisive moments of his economy God reveals his name, but he does so by accomplishing his work. This work, then, is realized for us and in us only if his name is hallowed by us and in us.

Without a doubt leadership is hard and challenging and sometimes we get so used to its challenge that we forget that we can make it successful.  We learn to get used to the very things that can cause our downfall.  But it doesn’t have to be this way.  One of the big elements we struggle with as leaders is our ability to plan effectively - our ability to see our way through changing circumstances.  This ability is impeded by what we call “fog”.  And understanding “fog” is the key to overcoming it.

In my quarter-century as a philosophy professor, I’ve been exposed to much wisdom. I try to understand it, and I want to share what I have found.
Being married twenty-five years and raising six children has also brought a few hard-to-see things to light.
I have known the struggles of being a husband, father, friend, employee, and citizen in very confusing times.
The travails of the household—as experienced by husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, children, and others—especially consume my attention and are close to my heart. The way forward is not easy, but we can search for it and travel it, together.
My search is for refreshing and revitalizing waters from a good place. Peaceful yet challenging, silent but powerful, old as the hills and exactly what we need today.

Men have been entrusted with four leadership roles. They flow from the original blessing to humanity. To fulfill these four leadership roles, men must develop within themselves the five characteristics of an authentic leader. There is incredible beauty and depth behind these leadership roles and characteristics.

There are heroic stories of men who have fulfilled them and tragic stories of those who haven’t. We cover all of them in the Fall semester of “Becoming a Man After God’s Own Heart.”

<h2>About the gear:</h2>
Although the first cufflinks appeared in the 1600s, they did not become common until the end of the 18th century. Their development is closely related to that of the men&#8217;s shirt. Men have been wearing shirt-like items of clothing since the invention of woven fabric 5,000 years BC. Although styles and methods of manufacturing changed, the underlying form remained the same: a tunic opened to the front with sleeves and collar.
By the middle of the 19th century the modern cufflink became popular. The shirt front, as well as collar and cuffs covering areas of the most wear, were made sturdier. This was practical but when clean and starched, collars and cuffs underscored the formal character of the clothing. However, they could be too stiff to secure the cuffs with a simple button. As a consequence, from the mid 19th century onward men in the middle and upper classes wore cufflinks. The industrial revolution meant that these could be mass-produced, making them available in every price category.

Auxilium Christianorum has 2 principal aims of the association: 1) To provide prayer for priests associated with Auxilium Christianorum so that their apostolate in driving out demons is efficacious. 2) To provide prayers for the members – priests, laity, family and friends – so that they are not adversely affected by the demonic.
<h3>About the Auxilium Christianorum:</h3>
The Church teaches us that it is divided into the Church Triumphant (which includes the members of the Church in heaven), the Church Suffering (this includes the members of the Church in purgatory), and the Church Militant (this refers to those members of the Church who are alive in this world). Because we are part of the Church Militant, we are in a spiritual warfare and this spiritual warfare requires that we recognize, as Saint Paul teaches us “For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood; but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places.” (Ephesians [6:12])
The members of the Auxilium Christianorum should always bear in mind the reality of our state as members of the Church living in this world. Despite St. Paul’s teaching, many Catholics do not take seriously their obligation to wage war against the demonic forces. It is, for this reason, the Association of the Auxilium Christianorum was founded.

In the ascent towards holiness and happiness, a Catholic man must build the good habits (Virtue, from the Latin, vir, meaning “manliness, moral strength, goodness, valor”) of the moral life and break the bad habits (Vice, from the Latin, vitium, meaning “defect, offense, blemish, imperfection”) which cause him to fall into sin and risk losing his salvation. Humility

Trying to improve our leadership requires a lot from us.  It requires study and thought and development of our skills.  But sometimes in the midst of all that we can forget why we’re called to lead in the first place.  What’s God’s plan for our leadership?  Why would he call us to do what we’re doing anyway?  Certainly there are many great answers to these questions but none strike as profoundly as seeing our work as an extension of the work of Christ himself; an extension of the power of the cross, an extension of salvation for a broke world.
